Hey Guys,

I just wanted to say whats up and I'm not lost in PHX. I have been in the hospital for 17 days with surgery and recovery, I got "Valley Fever". Go figure, I saw the site was down for a few days but I couldn't move much anyway. I hate that I missed a trip to SpeedWorld but I was being poked and prodded at that time. I've been home for a few weeks now learning how to walk again with a walker....Tom I got mines first, so your safe for several years....lol I'm mobile now after some therapy but this illness is pretty serious but I get lots of pills...Yeah!!!! JK Godd thing is I'm not contagious, can't pass but I can beat it with lots of work. I lost almost 60 pounds from mid Feb. till I got home so I'm trying to eat all the fatty foods I can, hi calorie and protein all I can get. I'm gonna try to catch up on the happenings with the club and I look forward to seeing you guys soon. Also I like the top sticker (SHO AZ Flag) on top, let me know when they are available and how to get one. Well time for be it's 2am, sleep schedule is still a little funny from the hospital though.

Later for now,

Virg:thumb:

Hey Virg,

Good luck with the recovery and everything. I would offer to bring you something to eat but my cooking would probably make you worse .

Anyway take a day at a time and I'll look forward to running against you at speedworld.

All the best,

Rav.

Virg,

EEP! Get well soon, man!

I can't imagine you with 60lbs gone, so definitely load up on the carbs and proteins. If a high wind hits Dooleyville and blows you away we'd probably just hope that a cactus snags you so that we don't have to run far. Isn't it great to have friends like that?

Here's wishing ya a quick recovery. :thumb:

OMG, valley fever is like a long term thing man. I have friends who have had it for a few years. Seems you carry the bug for awhile. I would have thought those cigars would have evicted any fever bugs at all.

Rav,

I will look forward to trying some of your cooking it will probably be a lot better than the food in the hospital and if that didn't **** me yours should be pretty harmless. I'll be going to Speedworld as soon as I clean and change my oil to stop my ticking sounds. Thanks for the words of encouragement I'm getting better day by day and I'm to type "A" personality to stay down for to long anyway but I shall see you soon. I hope your not working too hard...although we all know you are....lol

Mike,

So far they tell me that I'll be on the high dosage antibiotics for at least the first 6 months to a year maybe which is fine by me as long as I don't have to visit the hospital again. My first time in and I did it up right....lol NOT!!! I have not found the right cigar to beat this Valley Fever yet but give me time I'll probably just have to go through all of them till I have found the right one. I guess I will have to stay out of the wind for a while...if we ever get any down here. Hope your wife isn't giving you too hard a time and bring the kids down south and I'll bring Izaiah and they can chase Blacky all over the place all day again.

See you soon,

Virg

I have a chain to hook up to the lift and still be able to walk around and if the wind tries to blow me away I'll be strapped down. At this point I'm a little scared of the wind which is how I might have caught the fever so forgive me if I'm in the house with Tom's wife admiring her decorating skills if the winds get a little gusty. Just kidding Tom... I will be loading up on the carbs and proteins though....heading out today to look for protein shakes and stuff. Lookin for something that tase good I hope thats easy...lol I know better!

Just be careful with the antibiotics. Too much of them can be bad also. Causes a condition called "C-Dif", it basically kills all the "good" bacteria in your body from the antibiotics. My wife had it last year, after gastric banding surgery. Man, was she sick!

Hey Virg,

Not giving any medical advice as I'm not a doctor. If you're looking for protien powders and such, online is way better than the regular bricks and mortar store.

Have a chat with your doctor and find out what his diet advice is and what excercise regime is, you don't want to overload your system with advice from the internet.

Good luck,

Rav.

How long have you been down, Virg? I know that is nasty stuff, people die from it. Let me know if you need any help, I could come and pick up your car and run it out to my place and change the oil and filter for you, no charge. Let me know. Get well.

Hey Virg,

If there's anything that I can do, though I'm pretty useless at just about everything apart from watching TV, let me know.

Unfortunately I'm a complete lemon when it comes to mechanical stuff.

Rav.

P.S. You really don't want to taste my cooking. My mum calls it survival food. You can eat it and just about survive.

Wow, Virg glad to hear you're doing better so far! I took a bunch of protein back when I actually had time to work out and stuff. I always got it from GNC. They sell soy proteins, complex proteins, whey proteinds, egg proteins, all kinds of stuff. I have the gold card too so I get extra deals. I haven't used it in a long time, so you can just have it if you decide you want it. Their website is http://www.gnc.com/shop/index.jsp?categoryId=2102347 They also sell all kinds of vitamins and things your body needs when it's recovering from such a thing.

BTW, I've only heard of Valley Fever, what exactly is it and how can you get it?

Hope to see you soon Virg, keep getting better!

Wow guys thanks for the wealth of info, I just picked up my first container/barrel of whey protein shake mixture and just tried it last night for the first time and it was ok. I got vanilla to be neutral but I'm not a lover of vanilla, mixed it with some chocolate and it was ok. Tom to give you an idea of my time down, I went to John C Lincoln on Feb 24 for a biopsy and the Dr. couldn't do it because I had 2 abscess' one the size of a grapefruit in the middle of my lower back and one on my hip the size of a baseball. My movements like walking, sleeping, sitting were getting difficult to say the least. He drained them, told me he thought it was Valley Fever and by that following Monday night I was checked into Good Samaritan for an undetermined amount of time and a rough road ahead of me. Couple of surgeries and 4 drains hanging off me, hospital food and a TV and I was in there till around Mar 20th. Came home and was on a walker learning to walk again and get strength in my legs back and I have been off the walker now maybe 3 weeks or so...My type A personality won't let me be down or not mobile for very long. I do appreciate the offer of the oil change but this one I want to do because I want to learn how to do the Auto RX procedure so I can see if I can get rid of my ticking sound, the hydraulic tensioner on the drivers side is my next project to work on. I still have to wait a week or so to see what my doctor says about me going back to work and then I can start playing with my car again. I'll let you know when they say it's ok to play with my friends again. Sorry guys if this is long winded in the forum I hope I didn't bother anyone teling my story.

Aaron,
I am dying for a pizza, I haven;t had any good pizza since I left the hospital other than Pizza Hut but it wasn't my fav. meat lovers so it was just pizza. The good thing is I can eat all the junk food I want for a little while to get some fat in my body but **** that's hard too because I was eating pretty healthy before my surgery....I hate to say...lol A trip to Barros is going to be welcomed and I can't wait.
