Ok, this was my first 60k and when my buddy told me about PP I didn't like the idea of driving 7 hrs, but if he could turn it around over night I would do that rather than waiting 3 or 4 weeks for a guy here in town to finish it. So I figured it would be worth it just to get it done over night.
Well I took a set of Eibachs up there to have them put on too, but it turns out there were aleady a set on it. doh So Doug tells me that he can still lower the car and he does.
He then points out that the previous owner had a first generation attempt at a under drive pulley setup. The setup was to take load off the alternator, but putting a bigger pulley on it and made the pulley it connects to smaller.....not good...it was out of balance and causing the headlights to dim because the alternator wasn't running right....well he fixed that. No more dim lights!! thumb
Then he found that the rear sway bar bushings were too severe for the car and were causing the front end to plow through curves, because the rear was too stiff. He replaced them, and it screams and pulls awesome through corners now!! thumb
He also asked me about squeaking noises from the front end...I said yes....everytime the struts move....well he pointed out that the strut tower support had been tightened too much and was causing the washer on top of the strut to rub against the strut tower brace and cause the noise, he fixed it and it's quiet to drive now!!
Well he finishes the 60k, cleans the MAF sensor, and all the rest of the stuff including a 4 wheel alighnment and does it all in about 6 1/2 hrs.
He also gave me a tip to get rid of the yellowing of the headlights...which I did tonight and man they are really bright now!!
Another kicker....I got a $10 discount on a near by hotel by mentioning their name!!
All in all....definately worth it...and I'd definately do it again!! It may have cost a little more than someone locally, but the expertise is worth it and the car is even more fun to drive...and man is she fast....another member coins a phrase that a slightly moded Sho pulls micely in 4th......man is that the truth!!!
I'd highly recommend making the trip!!! It's worth it!! I even averaged about 30 mpg on the way up! Before the 60k, on the way back I didn't really track it...due to going into Chicago and many many construction delays.
thumb thumb thumb thumb to PP!!
Oh...I forgot to mention that the next morning, before leaving to go back to Cincinnati, I was walking around the car and found a nail in the tire...it was first thing in the morning and I went back to PP to ask about a tire shop that could fix it, Doug said that he could do it, no problem, dropped what he was doing pulled mine in and put in a plug that is needed on speed rated tires, most shops wouldn't have done that, and got me on my way very quickly!!
Awesome service, and Great guy! thumb
