As most of you know here are the feature for the Performance Package:

Enhance the performance of your SHO with the available SHO Performance Package. It features:

Upgraded performance brake pads
Sport-calibrated electric power-assisted steering (EPAS)
Higher-rated springs, tuned shocks, stiffer stabilizer bars and rear suspension to provide a more connected feel between the driver and the road
Standard AdvanceTrac® electronic stability control (ESC) features a "Track Mode/True Off" setting that delivers a more spirited driving experience
3.16 final drive ratio for off-the-line acceleration
20" machined and painted wheels with performance summer tires*
New larger front and rear brake rotors
Upgraded cooling pack
Tire mobility kit (in lieu of spare tire)
Alcantara® suede-wrapped steering wheel

My questions are really related to the different gears. Are there any revise specs on the 0-60 times and mpg? I assume these would be affected.

What about the "true off"? I'm guessing if you turn the tc and advance trac it'll be "true off"?

From what I understand and have experienced on my 2013 is that if you turn it off with the switch and put the transmission in S it makes a big difference. It seems a bit quicker to me

I've had both a Non-PP and a PP and the PP is much faster. 0-60 is better, along with general passing moves. Fuel economy is about 2-3mpg lower in the PP, namely because of the higher rpms. With my Non-PP i would get 28mpg when crusing, with the PP i get 25-26mpg.

Since I don't have a SHO, I may be incorrect, but I believe I read that with the PP you can get it to completely turn off by pushing the button twice and holding it on the second push for several seconds.

With the PP you can turn it completely off.

In S mode, the car is definitely more responsive but will not go into the overdrive gear (6th).

1 button push with brakes on = esc on,tcs off.
2 rapid button pushes with brakes applied = esc and tsc on but in sport mode.
Button pushed for more than 5 seconds with brakes applied and no throttle = esc off, tcs off.
Button depressed after any of above enables esc and tcs.

Sport mode allows less interference from AdvanceTrac to allow spirited driving with auto controls. This is AdvanceTrac sport mode not the console selectable shift sport mode.
TSC = Traction Control.
ECS = Stability Control.
Taken together they make up AdvancTrac.

I am assuming then with the Non PP package you do not have the ability to control TSC or ESC???

Reading the 2013 Ford Taurus manual there is nothing in the book which specifies this is PP only, only SHO. Non-SHO use the information systen to access the AdvanceTrac controls.

I've owned my 2013 PP for 3 years and did not know this!

A tuned non-pp actually is faster 0-60 vs a tuned pp... this has been proven over and over again...

That said, the added cooling parts, better suspension, and braking of the pp make it better for auto-x

LOL OK So I got a couple of comments/questions, First I am 100% positive I have a PP SHO, now it is still pretty much stock and I am pretty well known for my "Operator Error" BUT I see almost no difference in the car when in the different modes, but I am not really sure what I am looking for. I know no matter what mode I am in the car does not spin its tires, I also know that it does not always lock out six gear in "Sport Mode", I know the paddle shiftier is very hard to use when turning. I understand the meanings behind everything when I hear you guys talking about having the "Nannies" turned off but I don't see how changing the traction control makes your car faster. Lastly your a better man then me if you take a 4400 pound car with comfortable seats to a auto-x, I can see track day at a road course somewhere but throwing it around a parking lot is a different animal. Just my thoughts, please let me know if I am **** something wrong.

There is no doubt its a Performance Package, Not only does everything on the car check out (tires, spare, sport mode etc) but I ordered a copy of window sticker, so I am positive its a PP SHO. I just don't see the point in turning things off unless you are trying to slide around the track, and your never going to completely turn off everything because its still an AWD, What would be cool would be if you could go just RWD, but that's a long way away from how this car is designed.

I would rather take my car to AutoX than a track day (and I do). Like you said, it's a 4400 lbs car and it's not exactly designed for turning and it will never be the best in it's class. What's nice about AutoX is that it makes you a better driver regardless of what you drive and when you spin out there's usually nothing to hit (such as a wall at a track).

I have a non-PP and I can turn off TC but not Stability Control. There are several times when exiting a turn and getting on the gas it will cut power when SC kicks in. When people talk about turning off all nannies they want TC and SC off and it's generally so they can do some donuts in the winter. They're not talking about turning all electronics off such as the AWD, just TC and SC.

Out of curiosity do you have an owners manual? This is not meant to be a snotty question, I just have to point customers to it a LOT. I spent a week reading that blasted thing. I did learn some stuff that I have probably forgotten now.

ANY how. Snow tires+performance package with stuff turned off = axle spins (no donuts) and a heck of a good time till you can't see anything.

Or so I have heard .......

Yes, but I'm a tech guy (programmer) and I'm pretty good at figuring things out and I just have the time to sit and read anything that a car manual. I refer to it when I can't figure something out...well, actually, I Google it first, because I'm faster with searching and I really hate paper.

I had the car over a year before I realized that it had butt massagers! Another few months before I realized it also had back massagers!! Like getting a new car every few months.

This is an interesting topic, the only things I really don't like about this car the paddle shifters, it will never have a really good exhaust note, and I can't smoke the tires if I want. I don't have winter tires so maybe I have too much grip, but no matter what I turn off I get no spin. I guess there cold be something wrong with the program since it will go into six gear in "Sport Mode" but I am not sure how I get that fixed. I imagine the conversation going something like this.

Me - The car goes into six gear in sport mode
Service Department - Its supposed to go into six gear
Me - Not in sport mode
Service Department - What is sport mode
Me - Good Grief

So I get the whole sport mode at the track I guess if you come out of a corner hard it will give you a little spin and make you feel like you are doing the driving, but that seems more like a fun issue and less an increase in performance, It does seem a little more resposive in "Sport Mode" but that could just be my imagination.
