Somebody, help him....
Why. What have I done? I have about 30 Mazda Clubs on Facebook. I'm finally getting back into a Ford when my family had a Ford Dealership. My dad retired, about 2 months ago, after 60 years in the Ford Dealerships. My sister is in commercial sales at the largest Ford Dealership in Texas. Her husband is a parts manager at a DIFFERENT Ford Dealership.

Have you BEEN to V8SHO.com yet?
Do you understand there is a fatal flaw in the design of the camshafts?
Do you understand it is not 'IF'. but 'WHEN' your cams will let go without warning?
When your cams let go, because of this fatal flaw, the pistons will beat the valves into the heads and the result will be catastrophic engine failure?

I am trying to help and inform you, sir. This well known issue has nothing to do with ones' driving style. It just happens. And V8SHO.com can give you over 1000 VIN numbers of destroyed engines.

Welding the cams is the best known way to avoid this catastrophe. I'm just trying to help a new owner.

I've already been through a catastrophe back in 2001.

I love driving this SHO. It has a nice and deep sounding engine. However, there really isn't an exhaust sound. I for sure need to get that taken care of. LOL

I'm not going to be racing the SHO, or anything harmful. I want it since it's a rare collectable sedan. Just like my Mazda Millenia S sedans. The only Mazda with a supercharger under the hood.
V8sho.com has the details of the lawsuit against Ford. Ford recommends at least Red Loctite be used in their TSB (though I've never seen anyone do that). But if you're in there and have access to a welder, just 1-3 tack welds will ensure a forever CAM and the answer to every V8 SHO buyer should be looking for...
Keep in mind this has never been known to occur under racing conditions and typically has happened at idle... Even when unloading from the moving truck...

I have never seen or heard rumor of anyone ever using the loctite. That is borderline absurd from Ford. Hollon71 if you look around here oand v8sho.com you can see pics of spot welds done so you know what it looks like.

Knowledge and confirmation of welds on your camshaft sprockets. If you do not know for sure that your engine IS welded, then all other spending should stop until you can get those sprockets secured. Once they let go, and they will, your car is totalled.

At least take off your front valve cover and LOOK.
