Using the Perfect Circle rings and would like to know about ring install. The top ring doesn't have a mark on is so it doesn't matter which way they are installed on the piston. The second ring has a small dot on one side and a white hash mark on the outer part of the ring and is also beveled. The beveled part faces towards the top, correct? The oil rings have no markings so they can go in facing any way.

Any help is appreciated. Just want to make sure these things are in there properly.

according to my Ford manual, the top ring should have a chamfer on the inside surface that is installed to the top.

the second ring has a bevel on the outside that should be installed wide part down.

the oil control ring parts apparently are the same up/down so can be installed either way.

The PC rings are different. The top ring is flat and the second ring is the one with the bevel on the inside.

I think you should read the instructions that came with the rings you purchased.

I went with the Hastings with my rebuild (my first engine rebuild, I might add), and I followed the instructions to a T. Couple of years with a few track days mixed in for good measure, and it's still running like a top.

If you read and follow the PC directions, you should be fine.

how do you know this if you have no instructions with the rings?

it makes no sense to me that the PC guys would change the way the rings are installed - generally they just duplicate the factory parts (in some cases they are actually made by the same company).
