Is the basic problem with PBR calipers that the bolt holes don't line up?

P1000194

Or is there something else that I am not seeing? 'Cause I have a welder, a drill press, a tap and a wilingness to use them.

I'll bet they line up on the smaller rotors. If you use the 11.6 rotor then you run into what i found.

Not sure what the PBRs are from, I think Mustang GT.

So, in getting back to this, I think I should change direction. I've already got 17 inch rims, so I ought to just use the 13 inch Mustang rotor too. Now, in everything I've read, people say to drill a new hole in the PBR bracket .7" HIGHER but wouldn't that move the caliper the wrong direction?

Since I am owed about a billion hours of laser time for some programming work I did for a buddy, I think I should just have something like this cut, shouldn't I?

Please excuse my shoddy SketchUp work. I did this while I was eating my chips and salsa, I probably spilled a little on it. :)

Yeah, I just read that. I kinda always thought that's what I had, but I guess they are Mustang GT calipers. Anyway, it'll take 10 minutes on the laser to cut some brackets and 8 holes.

13" cobras over here, love them and they can be had for pretty cheap.

But then the caliper cage still won't have a big enough opening to go over the radius of the 13" rotor. I don't think that I have seen anyone successfully use the Mustang V6/GT PBR calipers over anything larger than the 11" rotors.

cheers

For those, like me, who need a visual clue why this won't work well.

You can't just make a flat bracket to space it straight up either, due to the offset of the rotors being the same.

Better off just getting the Cobra calipers and brackets.

Yup, that was why the two piece bracket was neccesary.

Got it. I was trying to visualize how it would all bolt on. It still might work, but isn't worth the trouble for most people.

So after all that, I decided to just be a frugal Frank and ended up using the Mustang GT calipers and carbon pads that I already had, bought some 10.9" rotors and bolted it all on. It all went swimingly, except for the part that didn't. The 93+ knuckles I was going to use didn't have ABS sensors in and no one on Earth has ever removed one without destroying it. Luckily, I had 4 knuckles for some reason. The other two had ABS sensors and good bearings. +1 for having a garage full of crap. Then I had to grind a little ridge off the caliper because the SHO brake line blocky part is bigger than the Mustang blocky part. Then I had to go buy some brass washers. Then I snapped a bleeder off my rear brake. I bolted it all back together. I'm tired. My brakes are spongy. I also forgot to buy new cotter pins so my tie rods will probably fall up. Good.
