Hey guys, while drooling through the stuff on Crutchfield.com I came to a realization that I should have come to MANY MANY months ago.

My patch cables were bought as part of a kit to re-wire the SHO to accept a sub/amp combo. Since I don't have an aftermarket HU anymore the cables are coiled under the rear seat.

From my days working pro sound tech, the longer the distance sound has to run the larger diameter the cable has to be. At all costs you should not have a crapload of extra cable laying around/coiled up IF YOU CAN AVOID IT.

These cables are decent Rockford Fosgate cables but I can easily cut 8 feet out of them. But can I do that without totally *****'ing the sound quality going to the amp? If I were to shorten them I would use gold plated connectors on one end and leave the OE ends on the other.

Or would it be cheaper to make my own? take 3 feet of cable from audio store and 4 connectors?
