No, I put this thread in the right place. lol

It's been almost one month since I ordered my fully loaded 2013 SHO. I still have another two weeks or so before it comes in. It will have the Active Park Assist, but ever since I rented a 2010 Lincoln MKS, I wanted front bumper parking sensors to go with my rear bumper sensors. I was disappointed to learn that the Active Park Assist has nothing to do with front bumper sensors. The car has a sensor on the left and right extremes of the front bumper, but that's only for the Active Park Assist. I really wanted front bumper sensors to assist me when getting OUT of tight parking spaces, and also to avoid low-sitting obstacles in parking lot parking spaces. It can be a little hard to judge with the huge hood.

After ordering my car, I discovered two things. First, was that the 2012 Focus actually has an optional "Parking Assist Package", which includes Active Park Assist AND both front and rear bumper sensors. Great Ford, put it on one of your smallest cars from last year, but not your largest sedan in a brand new redesign. Even the pictures of the 2013 Fusion show front bumper sensors will be available.

Secondly, after I ordered my car, Ford finally put up the accessories page for the 2013 Taurus. Guess what was on there? Front bumper sensors. Aftermarket by Echomaster, to be installed at the dealer. Better than nothing, I thought. My only concern was how intrusive the installation would be, since they would not only have to drill into the bumper to place the sensors, but also install a speaker box and a separate control switch inside the cabin. I was worried how that would look, so I called my dealer to ask him some questions about the parts and installation before deciding whether I would order it or not.

My guy at the dealership called me back today. After speaking to the company that does Ford's technology installations at the dealership, he was told I absolutely should *not* purchase front bumper sensors for my car, since I already have Active Park Assist. He was told that they already did such an installation on a woman's car, and the front sensors somehow conflicted with or messed up the Active Park Assist system, and they eventually pulled the whole thing out.

So my dealership looked out for me and told me not to buy it. I'm appreciative of that, and I'm glad my guy knew who to call to get that information.
