parking brake pedal

Has anyone had the rubber on parking brake pedal where it meets the warning switch turn gooey like its melting. Thanks Plumber

Hmm. I'm going to check mine. Old rubber does that with heat and chemicals sometimes but did you do any cleaning or work in that area?

Any idea where to get a replacement rubber pad? I have my old (broken) one sitting at my desk for almost a year trying to find a replacement.

I've pulled the whole brake pedal assembly from cars in the junkyard and just replaced the entire unit.

that goo sucks, it gets on the carpet and is really hard to clean off. plus on mine it sometimes gums the switch for the brake lamp.

They don't sell a replacement pad as far as I remember. (chased this issue in two other SHO's). You can come up with a home remedy of just about anything. The cleanest solution was already mentioned above. Swap in a good used one if you can find one (which I couldn't back then).

Hello,
At the point when an auto brakes, it is typically uneventful. At times, notwithstanding, discouraging the brake pedal while the auto is in movement can bring about the vehicle to shake and vibrate. Earlier models would release the parking brake when the gear selector was placed in a forward or reverse gear without requiring any input on the brake pedal .

Will the Gen 3 assembly fit?

If I don't use my foot to slow down the release, the force of it slamming causes my turn signals to stop working.

That's not right. You should look into the wiring. Something is wrong if that is messing with your blinkers bud.

I know. I'm guessing after all the years of banging without the pad, it just loosened the wire going to the flasher. Lowering the fuse box for some odd reason fixes it. And it doesn't happen unless I allow the pedal to release at full force.
