Is there an oem or aftermarket replacement for the rubber pad on the parking brake lever that contacts the parking brake light switch plunger?

Using the parking brake adjusts it automatically. If it seems misadjusted just apply the ebrake a few times. If it doesn't adjust something is wrong with it.

It took awhile to fine a good one at a junk yard (most had turned to goo like the stock one). Took a razor knife and cut a good pad off and super glued it to my parking brake on the '89 after cleaning the residual goo off. Looks stock and clean.

I have found good ones at the junkyard...you just have to keep looking. The ATX assembly will work in an MTX. The bumper by itself will NOT. I had to modify just the bumper portion to get it to work okay.

Here is what it looks like with a good regular Taurus pad found and cut off at a junk yard. I installed it with glue, 8k miles and no ploblems.

The old rubber composition muffler/tailpipe hangers from a an auto parts store. Cut it, attach with permanate weatherstrip adhesive, ride forever. Did it 15 years ago, still workin'.
