Ok. My car is in bad need of some paint and against my better judgement I was thinking about doing it myself. Especially the spoiler and bumper cover. The spoiler is fading from wind shear. Anyway. I have a compressor and a cup sprayer, but wanted to know where to get the paint and clearcoat. What sand paper to use etc. Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks,
David

Make sure you get the right paint.Painting plastic is NOT the same as painting metal.

Are you planning on painting the entire car?
If so,and your not doing any major body-work,this is what you will need.

Wet/Dry sand paper- get grits from 320-1000.
Rubber squeegies.
Laquer thinner.
Sanding block-rubber.
You might want to get some primer to fill in the scrathes in the paint.

As far as paint goes I would buy only quality paint. Dupont, Glasso, Sikkens all make quality paint. You will need reducer and hardner agents as well. Just pick a manufacturer and use there "system"
Make sure when painting flexible body part you add a flex agent to the paint.

Remember, prep is the key to a quality paint job, do you part at a time until the car is nice and smooth. Then you can begin to paint.
I suggest that you practice a bit on some scrap parts to to fine tune your skills. Their are some adjustments on the gun that you can tweak to your liking.
I could go on and on but that should get ya started.

Jay
