I decided to move the Painting away from the Radiatior cleaning deal.

On a side note, it took me 7hrs over 2 days to strip this car. I got more pics if anyone wants me to post them. Oh and another thing, there are 6 or 8 crap retainers to hold the bottom windsheild covers on yet there are about 8 plastic screw retainers, 1 metal screw, and 17 plastic clips to hold each set of rocker panels on, what's the deal with that?

I dented the front left QP in Feb, and I am repainting the car.

When I bought it the rear bumper must have been resprayed. Through the 50K I've had it a lot of pant has flaked off, and the dorrs have scratches along the seams, and well... I really wanted to learn. so Im doing the whole car. As of the moment it is going to be the same white but with blue pearl in the clearcloat.

I watched Joe Dirt two days ago and now I almost want to paint is hugger orange and get a CF cowl.

BTW this is what 7hrs got me..aside from massive amounts of fume inhalation ;)

Where does your filter sit? In that pic it looks like the pipe curves back under towards the centerline of the car.

How much did you budget yourself for supplies?

Did you have any body work experience before tackling this? I was thinking about doing a similar overhaul on my '99 as well :O

I am keeping it white. I am deciding on adding pearl to the clearcoat

stock airbox, just a tube to pull air from outside the engine bay. I know it is a POS but after a a bunch of spirited driving 120+ I was able to put my hand on the intake and it was cool, not warm but cool. That was about 2 summers ago. but still.

I did more sanding today. This time it was the clear coat on the plastics. I forgot my camera so I will take and post pics on Wed when I get back.

Wow, looks like you have started quite the project. I'm pretty sure that is something I don't have the time/know how to do. Glad to see you're keeping it white. I love my white SHO, except when those birds drop some massive dumps on it.... I swear, they target it.

Great work!

Hoboprodigy - I have ZERO body work/paint experience before this.

I posted an add on CL and got a reply. The guy who is helping me has his own custom paint shop. His site here

I am looking at $300 for a base coat & clear coat
Around $75-$100 for supplies (tape, paper, sandpaper, etc)
The guy asked for $400 cause he is gonna do most of the painting.
He asked for $200 to teach me everything.

So I am looking at about $1000 to do a $3500 job. AND I gain a skill that I have always wanted.
