While pulling the intake, I noticied that my EGR "Tube" was just dangling. Do I really need to re-connect it, or can I plug the holes(as it were), and just "fughetaboutit"? I am in no danger of a bs "smog test" bs anytime soon!

Thanks....EB

I just noticed the same on my 95 ATX. In fact, I posted a topic on it late Friday night. In my case there were no bolts connecting the lower ****** to the exhaust manifold. My car was not loud, and it passed an emissions test in November (the tube has been disconnected at the manifold for at least three years).

You do need to fix this problem. I'm still working on mine and thus can offer no advice at this point.

The egr valve is a big problem when it breaks. Mine broke off when I took of my intake once and of course they are no longer available through ford. I got lucky and had a friend with an extra atx motor laying around and it just happened to still have the egr valve attached. After you get it, putting it back on is a real pain.

Sorry about that, it was the tube going from the manifold to the egr valve that I meant could be tough to find.

The tube just appears to have come out of the manifold connection. It dosen't appear to be fractured, it slips into the ******. I'm thinking heavy guage wire and muffler glue! wink

Any harm in just "plugging it"?

I just noticed the same on my car. The bottom of the tube has two little nodules on it. I am assuming these limit how far the tube goes into the exhaust manifold. I don't think wire or glue is actually needed. I think the tube is designed to simply rest inside the hole, held in place by virtue of the EGR valve's attachment to the intake manifold. I have had no drivablity problems nor error codes set.

Correct me if I'm wrong. As I understand it, the the only SHO's to have the EGR are the ATX (CAL & NON-CAL) and CAL only MTX. What then, is the consequences of plugging the manifold and leaving the EGR off? Will I just get the "Check Enginge" light, and a code?

The EGR tube is (was) held onto the exhaust manifold ****** by two small welds. These ahve a tendency to break after they rust and when the EGR line is flexed during engine service. No glue is going to handle the temperatures of the exhaust manifold for long. Remove the two-bolt (10mm IIRC) ****** from the exhaust manifold, take the tube and ****** to a shop and have them rewelded in the proper orientation. Fix it properly and then you can forget about it.
