Has anyone had these codes before and what did you do to fix them?
P1744 is the "torque converter clutch system mechanically stuck in off position" and P1413 is "secondary air injection system monitor circuit high"
My car will not pass emissions due to having these codes and I need to get if fixed asap! Car has 252,000 on it and don't want to spend alot of money on it, just want the codes to go away so I can pass emissions. Any help or input would be appreciated! Thanks!

P1413 is probably the secondary gear box leaving the secondaries open at all times, I think with it being in stuck on high. (If it it is active high anyways..)

Best way to fix that is probably take off the box that sits on top of your front valve cover and see if anything is sticking it in. If you don't care about your secondaries, you can wire them open and ditch the box all together. This will not throw any codes (only one the first time you do it and it will go away). There are plenty of topics on this forum on how to do it.

Not sure on the other code though, sorry. (Does your torque converter lock on the highway? Should be around 2500 RPM's on the highway @ 75MPH in locked position).

1413 is the SAI relay probably. Located on the pump bracket under the battery on the subframe.

The TC one is a doomer as the tranny needs removed more than likely.

Exactly.

SAI relay is a PITA but can be done DIY for under ~$50 with a good used relay.

TCC, well, drive her till she don't go no more and then get the tranny rebuilt.

Good time to make sure your AAA membership is paid up...

So I can get a used relay? From a scrap yard or where? Online someplace?
Are you saying it is a pain in the butt to get to and fix?
The SES light has been on for over a year now and no real drivability issues at all. This is why it makes me angry cause the car drives fine and now I should spend money to get this useless stuff fixed just to pass emissions.
I know when it first came on it was the P1413 code cause I had it checked at the parts store. I don't know how long the P1744 code has been tripped though. I am surely not going to rebuild the tranny on a car with 252,000 miles on it.
My next option might be to register it someplace where I don't need the stupid emissions!

The SAI has no affect on engine performance, just emissions. You can get a generic 40A relay and wire that in if you don't want the expensive POS SSR that Ford uses.
