I recently had to replace a bad coil on the number 4 cylinder and the intake was obviously taken apart. The next day and about 30 miles later, the CEL comes on and it tosses out a p1131. I am completely stumped here as to why it continually pops up.

The runner mating surfaces were completely cleaned up and I even put a few coats of paint on the intake gaskets to get a good seal. All the couplers are tight and I even took a spray can of throttle body cleaner to the whole system and nothing. No vacuum leaks whatsoever. So can the O2 sensor itself be bad considering I drove it with a misfire for about 5 miles and possibly been damaged by the unburnt fuel? They are the original sensors as far as I know and have about 73,000 miles on them.

Right now I can erase the code and about 3 miles later, the CEL will come on.

I would guess it is either the O2 or the wiring. Maybe the cleaning of the intake gunked up the O2 sensor. You could try taking it out and cleaning it.

I just took it out for a 5 mile drive after disconnecting the battery last night and nothing. But more than likely, the CEL and the P1131 will crop up again and that's what makes me think it's not a vacuum leak but the sensor itself. And it was damaged by the unburnt fuel from the misfiring cylinder. Hopefully it will stay off but we'll see.
