Well I have had a small coolant leak. Well today I decided I need to put some transmission fluid in. So I do so, and I have noticed that my coolant leak has gotten alot bigger.

Well today I had to work, so I go out start my car up come back in. Started fine and everything. Im driving down the road and noticed that my needle for my temp gauge is very high. Its at the N in NORMAL. Im like well its probally just the cold. (My speedo was out of whack, now fixed) I have my vent and fan on, and I am just getting cold air through the vents. (But the car is warmed up) So I am driving and looking at my temp gauge and then I see the need fall down just a hair below the L. So I pull into a gas station. Shut the car off, and I see a alot of smoke exiting from under my hood. Pop the hood and let all the steam out. I go in to get a drink. I come back and its still steaming but I noticed that down near my oil filter I see antifreeze spurting out. So what I am thinking is that I just ruptured a line and most of the antifreeze didnt make it to the block, but what ever did made the needle on my temp gauge go down. Any ideas?

Thanks Brad

Blew the little 4 inch rubber hose. from the heater core line to engine. Goes from medal to rubber. I blew both of mine, in my '92 and '94. Easy fix. So take care of it.

The reason your temp gauge went down is the same reason that your heater was blowing cold - there was so little coolant in the system that it was not circulating that high in the block past the sensor or through the heater core.

Because it is one of the lower parts in your cooling system. Do yourself a favor and check all of the other hoses too. This cold weather likes to prey on them.
