Outer Tierod Help

i am changing my outer tierod on the passanger side and i have the cotter pin out also took the nut off just wondering how to pop it out of the end i hit it upwards with a hammer and it does not budge any quick help would be really appreciated as i am doing it right now thanks:)

ok thanks for the quick response i got it to pop now how do i untread the outer tie rod off without the whole thing spinning

You should have loosened the jamnut BEFORE removing the tie rod stud from the knuckle...

Drop it back on there, put the nut on it...not tight...just finger loose...and loosen the jamnut 1/4 turn...from there it should be really easy to remove the tierod end.

Be sure to count the number of turns as you take it off. And compare the length of the new and old OTRE. If one is longer than the other you will have to compensate.

FWIW I have found the small pitman arm puller works on tire rod ends like a champ. Cheap and easy.

thanks everybody i finally got it swapped out and and counted the turns and it worked out perfectually:sun:
