Not sure, but why not just niteshades it, and then clearcoat? Looks factory, and the darkness is all depending on how much you put on there..

Open them?? As in remove the lights, or take the lens out? I did mine, removed the lights and sprayed a couple thin layers.. (note to self tape off the reverse louvers, or else you wont be able to see ANYTHING when backing up at night, especially with tinted windows)...
Thing about the niteshades I didnt like, is not much of a shine to it, but I put 2 coats of home depot spraycan clearcoat on it, and then waxed it as if it were painted like the car, and came out great! I want to some sort of custom tinted taillights, like with circles or something showing the brake lights, the rest tinted BLACK... Not sure... taurus taillights are cheap enough to do a set to try though..

Here are a few pics of mine done... Like I said, be careful how much you put on, because it dries darker than it looks when it is still wet.. I was very happy with how mine came out though, Well worth the few hours I spent on it.. :thumb:

Dont forget you can get the 3rd brake light blackout on ebay... (might be easier than taping it off?). Show us results either way! :thumb:

So true, so true, so true! lol... I run a bike business, (www.mass-bike.net) and do a lot on ebay. the hitch is used for a bike rack, and the occasional tiny trailer i use to move some bikes.. If I end up putting my truck AND car on the road this year, I'l take the hitch off, I agree it looks better without it.. :bonk:

Here's mine with 1 coat of Niteshades and 2 coats of Duplicolour High Performance clear (the ones for their wheel paint).

I love how it looks, a dark maroon, it's exactly what I was looking for.
