OMG Ignition cylinder will not turn at all!!!

Well, I knew I had a bad ignition cylinder to begin with... The key wouldn't go in all the way, and would turn without anything in it. I figured it was broken inside. Well yesterday I went to a friend's house and went to leave,... The key went in all the way and did NOT want to turn at all!

Well, I already drilled out the pin on the bottom of the cylinder but the cylinder will still not come out. Anyone deal with this concern and know the fix? I'm going to try and fix it on Sunday. I need help! Anyone?

Ugh. Mine gets stuck sometimes too.

Try torquing the wheel REALLY hard to one direction while you twist the cylinder with the key in it. you also have to be in the "free to turn" mode to actually pull the cylinder out.

No, it's a bad ignition cylinder.

Bought a new one to hold me down from Autozone. $15 for the ignition cylinder and $45 for a tow. I'm all set.

BTW, in order to get an ignition cylinder out of a SHO that will not turn at all. You will need to drop the steering column and take it out from the back where the ignition switch mounts up to the column. Anyhow, have a good day.

I was going to reply to this earlier this morning, but you have to drill through the pin, and into the cylinder at least 1/2" before it will release from it's bore.

Because I've had this issue in the past and don't wish to have go through starting my SHO with a pair of surgical needle nosed pliers again, I now leave the key in the ignition cylinder at almost all times and just turn slowly and carefully each time. So far so good...
