You found out they helped, huh? Where did you find that out? Enlighten us, since all I've ever heard is that SVO/SVT had NOTHING to do with our cars.

SVT had nothing to do with it.

SVO on the other hand had their last Hurah witht he SHO and the T-bird SC before getting put to sleep and the new dog on the block SVT came around. SVT may have had something to do with the Gen3 but I honestly never asked about that. I talked to a Ford Rep. that came to the auction about it, mostly cause he had a Gen2 (He was suppose to turn it in for a Mountaineer but said no way and bought it). Nice guy too bad he went to work for Nissan.

I am going to go with noSHO on this one for sure. Just because some over-weight, middle-aged Ford Rep....(Schmuck)told you that they "helped" doesnt mean they had anything to do with it. SVO or SVT, neither one of them had anything to do with a SHO. Wether they built the whole damn thing or just designed the center caps, dont you think that they would have put their name on it??
I mean honestly its not like they have anything to be ashamed of!

I'm kinda against the svt badge unless you have svt parts on your car. I always make fun of ricers for putting on the stickers for things they don't have. Putting on an svt badge is the same thing as putting a type r sticker on a honda civic dx to me.

C'mon, do you think that SVO/SVT would put in a clutch that's too small or wait for 5 years to put in brakes big enough or put on 6" wide wheels? I love my SHO but I've had to do alot to make it perform the way I want.

well, SVT wasn't around when the SHo was intorduced. i would think that some ppl involved with the SHo made it to SVT. and remember, 12 years ago 6 inch wide rims were pretty big, just like 16s were. and personally, i don't have a problem with the clutch my car has but oh well.

If SVT would have ever done a Taurus SHO it most likely would have been a '94-95 model and based on what the typical mods they had done at the time, the co-called SVT SHO could/would/should have had;

Koni's (or Bilsteins)/Eibachs
SVT T-bird rims and Goodyear RS-A 225/50-17 tires
11.6" front brakes from the '95 Continental (and '96 SHO)
possibly back-date to '90-92 rear vented brakes?
CenterForce clutch
possible light weight flywheel
even more improbable, a LSD
better flowing Y-pipe and cats
22mm/26mm or maybe 24mm/28mm SB combo ('91 police package 3.8L SLO used a 28mm RSB)
poly or TRP bushings
extrude hone intake
similar to stage I cams specs
front and rear STB with a Mustang hood prop rod
possible structural stiffeners
Borla catback exhaust
CAI and/or larger MAF
B&M or Hurst true short throw shifter
custom seats covers, pedal pads, etc...
SVT badges
and hopefully the 3.2L MTX combo

But since they didn't, that's what the aftermarket is all about.

I know SVT wasn't around. It doesn't matter how long ago it was, 215mm tires on 6" wide rims is too much. And the first clutch that came with the original '89 was a total disaster. Within a couple months after introduction, Ford was scrambling to make the clutch better. That's why you don't have a problem with your clutch now(that's rare!).

Ask the Contour SVT guys what they think of their brakes and Focus ZX3 derived transmission :D

Wait, I'll save you the trouble, they suck just as bad as the SHO's do wink I know for a fact, my friend's '99 SVT Contour's tranny dumped itself after 30,000kms.. couldn't shift into any gear.. limp stick.. 1 month in the shop. His brakes are now completely warped at 35,000kms.

This post will be getting OT but just for a laugh...

The other day I pulled up to a traffic light behind a completely riced out (well done, but still riced) late 90's eclipse. I was driving my other car, a '98 eclipse spyder (non turbo) since the weather was beautiful and my wife and I were just out for a ride. This ricer had all kinds of stickers but the best was his license plate frame... "Powered by DENSO." Anyway, it was debadged so I did not know whether it was a turbo or not. I must admit that it looked like he had spent some good money on this thing so I assumed he had started off with a turbo car. I had to see what it could do.

The light turned green (remember I am BEHIND this car) and his coffee can started blaring. We both got going before the person to the right of us so I jumped out into the right lane and punched it. Keep in mind that my car has a few hundred extra pounds of convertible top but the engine is very torquey for a 2.4L 4-cyl.

Anyways, this guy sees me jump over and punches his car, but just can't keep up!! After I passed him, I slowed my acceleration since I had reached the speed limit + 5 mph and he came up beside me. I just looked over and chuckled at him.

I wish I had a sign that said... "My car is completely bone stock with 72,000 miles on it. Nobody is impressed by your car. And by the way, I am still powered by NGK."

The moral of this story is... please, please, people spend money on performance BEFORE cosmetics. I am one of the few people who does not really mind a rice-car IF they can back up all that advertising with real mods under the skin. I know we all have that power under the hood with the SHO, but there is no call for SVT badging unless you have SVT parts.

What exactly does they "had something to do with it" mean?? SVO/SVT had nothing to do with the SHO, and until you can prove otherwise, that's just the way it is. Just because some ******* told you SVO had something to do with it, you believe them? Like I said above, every story about the history of the SHO I have ever heard has never made any mention of SVO's involvement. Not saying it isn't possible, but I don't see any real facts here. Some people think the SHO is "that Taurus with a five-oh."

WOW noSHO! That thing has to be running low 9s in the 1/4! All you need now is a 200+hp shot of NOS RICE FOR LIFE BABY

P.S. You and Artesia need to work on a TT together now, then you will be set!

Oh My...SVO is NOT SVT two completely different things.

All us SHO / CSVT guys talk about rice. And how they saw a Civic EX with an Si badge or a Type-R badge...so tell me what the **** is the difference?? its just Domestic Rice!!! Putting an SVT badge on something that IS NOT an SVT!!!! Would you put Cobra badges on a V6 Mustang??? NOOOOOOO!!!!!
