Ok the hissing noise is coming from the vacuum lines running into the shifter area. Actually the lines themselves aren't the problem it is the disc that rotates when the shifter is moved into gear. I played around with it quite a bit but to no avail other than removing the lines altogether. My question is what do the lines do & can I unhook them to aleviate this annoying hiss? Please look @ the pics & let me know what those lines do as soon as you can cause the console is torn apart

Dude, I told you in that other post, they are for the automatic parking brake release. You can plug them up but you won't have an auto parking brake release.

Slosho I am sorry man I forgot that you had mentioned that. So the only purpose of those lines for the automatic parking brake release? I don't ever use the parking break anyways so who cares. Thanks & if you could verify that would be cool. I just don't wanna screw anything up by leaving them unhooked.

Adam, is there only one line? If there are more lines, they could be to more than the parking brake release. There is only one way to solve a problem. You have to solve the problem. If you plug the line, you have created another problem or just masked the real problem.

Find the leak. Move your hand around the line and listen for a change in the sound. Correct the problem. That is the right way to solve the problem.
