46k on my 2013, using 5w30 Royal Purple and a Mobil 1 filter due to the micron rating. I try to change every 5000mi and when I dumped the old oil back in the empty Royal Purple bottles it looks like I haven't burned a drop.

Penzoil Platinum with ford filter for both my 2011 SHO and my 2016 SHO. I tried non Ford filters in the 2011 and had issues with noise at start up.

Funny this thread is up now...as I've just passed 1000 miles and considering the first oil change. Yeah, maybe not needed yet, but I've always done the first change at 1000 miles.

I got the Mobil 1 5-30 and Motorcraft filter while I was out tonight. The Fumoto valve also arrived today...so I have everything ready.

Slightly off topic alert....My 2000 Viper uses Mobil 1 too, and I always used a Mobil 1 filter until last summer. There's often a sale at one of the auto parts chains where you get the Mobil 1 jug and Mobil 1 filter at a special price. I used to buy two, as the Viper takes like 8 quarts of oil, the same filter all fits our '96 RT/10 that uses regular oil. Anyhow, the last Mobil One filters had some odd little blobs (glue) inside...as thought it was spilled while gluing the filter media inside. I was concerned that it would come off and cause a problem. The folks at the store got another....and another....before I threw in the towel and used a different brand filter. May have been a Bosch.

Mobil1 oils frankly would be near the bottom of my recommendations based on recent Blackstone VOAs for detergent and additives. Top of the line would be Amsoil, Redline, and Royal Purple HPS (not the regular RP). House brands like OReilly's and SuperTech are good budget oils. Kendall GT1 full synthetic with liquid titanium is another oil you may want to consider trying out. All brands will vary compositions over time as the API standards evolve, Redline probably has been the "steadiest" of them all that way.

OK, being a devil's advocate but also asking a serious question: Does anyone really think you would have an oil related failure in 150,000 or more miles whether you use Mobil 1, Pennzoil, Redline, Royal Purple or Amsoil - as long as you use a quality filter and change the oil based on your driving habits? I am not talking about 150,000 easy miles, either. I am talking about the way we drive our cars, including a few trips to the drag way.

Blackstone results and Oil statistics are interesting but does it really matter? Is there anything to be gained in the long run by spending twice as much or more for oil? I am talking about the differences between well-known brand synthetics. I am NOT talking about conventional no-brand oils.

And a better oil will likely provide better fudge room when you do operate unusually. Do you have to pay 2x as much. Maybe not. I like my motorcraft full synthetic. I'l pay to play. I really like the fact that when I change the oil, it doesn' smell like fuel and I don't gain oil like I have seen with a semi synthetic change.

But if the engine fails early, looks like an L.M.S. race long block and some fancy turbos will be in order. Maybe have one of them 600 h.p. sleepers looming around.

I don't think if properly change oil would cause oil related failure based on oil type synthetic or not. Pretty much all oil that gets a rating is decent enough quality nowadays. But there are other reasons for using better oils like synthetic . Peace of mind. Better flow characteristics in winter. Adheres better to metal, smaller rounder molecules, better additive package. Costs nearly same if shop around (thank you walmart). Better mpg, better lubrication, longevity of the product itself........
