I had the hose to the TB off of the intake this weeked to fit a 80mm MAF. Up on removing that hose (the one between the MAF and TB) I noticed some oil in it, just behind the MAF, as if it had run out of the TB and collected there due to gravity. It wasn't alot just enough to notice, but it was there none the less. It also was not the black carbonny $h!t that we're farmiliar with from the PVC, it was clean new oil. The car had also mot been driven for a few days prior to this finding. Any guesses?

The only path for oil to the intake is through the crankcase ventilation lines. I have seen oil in other SHO's intakes before, but for some reason my intake has been dry and clean. Could it be from overfilling the crankcase or maybe parking upside down?

Thanx Scott,

It probably was a bit over full. I pulled the dipstick when I noticed this to check the condition of the oil and it was just a tad over the full line.

I think some dealerships "hose" the engine down with oil to make it look good and so no dirt sticks to it. I could be wrong. My girlfriends car had oil in the intake tube in between the air silencer tube on her Sunfire. I assume the same thing happened to her.

I don't know about that dirt want stick to oil. Everything I've ever seen that was oily had so much dirt absorded into it that it turned into a putty.
