I must say that I am impressed with the engine in our SHO's! I finally got around to performing an oil analysis and I must say that I am pleased with the results at 230k miles.

I have been using synthetic 5W30(Originally Mobile 1 and now Amsoil) since I purchased my 1993 back in 1995. I did change the rod bearings at 150k and as expected the bearings were down to the copper, but no scarring of the crank and no sludge buildup. I also perform the 60k maintenance on the proper schedule.
I am not sure why I have chromium as a wear metal. What inside the engine is chromium other than possibly the rings? Camshaft or Crankshaft?
The TBN number is low probably due to en extended oil change interval, 13 months and 5 k miles.
Fuel dilution is probably due to excessive idling as I would start and let the car idle every couple of weeks as I am working from home.

Let me know what you think.

Later,
Michael

Chrome at 2 ppm is nothing to worry about.

I would strongly discourage you from just starting the engine and letting it idle - it will never get properly warmed up and these engines do not like that. Instead, after you start it and have a idle a couple minutes, go for a 15 minute drive - you need to get out of the house anyway and your engine will be much happier.

Agreed. Letting the engine idle is not letting it get hot enough and you can build up moisture in the valve covers which would drip down into the heads. Go for a little drive and let the engine get hot enough to burn off the moisture after start up. Also an engine idling and running has different oil pressures. You want the engine to be running at normal rpm. Not sitting in your driveway or garage idling at 900-1000rpm.

I have been out driving my SHO and enjoying the handling. No more idling in the driveway.
I will do another oil analysis on the next oil change to verify.

Say I'm just wondering does anyone know if there's a trouble shooting forum for the sho? If I could type I would make one myself with things like symptoms and possible solutions that could possibly solve the problem but there's no way I could ever do that much typing or spelling but it would be cool you have something like that on this forum or in this forum maybe I can get one of my lady friends that can type and spell and start putting something like that together for us wouldn't that be cool just a thought folks
