Anyone know if the "oh crap" handles from an 89 will fit straight in on a 91??

Where they secure looks square and the faded spots in me headliner look round..

Thanx!

I've heard of 91 'oh sh*t' handles fitting an 89, also there are holes for one by the driver too! I'm pretty sure they are interchangable.

Guys, I don't think the "oh ****", and the "oh sh*t" bars are interchangable. I do however have first hand info that the "oh crap" and "oh my god" bars will fit anything. thumb

hehehe I installed them the other day.

89s on a 91. I had to pull on them (stretch them) to get the screw holes to match up.

But now my passengers won't be leaving fingernail marks in the dash and sidepanels... :D :D

Thanx for your help guys!

on my 91 the faded spots look rectangular. I have a sunroof car so no oh-**** handles for me
Actually, sunroof'd cars can have the assist handles too. I added the spring loaded ones from a Gen1 Sable.
You will need to use longer screws for the front handle as the roof is lower to allow for the sunroof. Measure them carefully though, don't use ones that are too long (for obvious reasons)!

When I had my headliner out (my '90 has a sunroof) I noticed that it already had the holse punched in the backer material and holes on the body but it never had the handles installed.

My 91 has a sunroof also, and they went in ok. I have never taken the headliner out, so I just stuck a small screwdriver through the material in the holes in the backer to feel around for where the screw holes were. (I didn't want to cut the headliner too much..)

I used the original screws out of a 90 w/out sunroof.

About my only concern is that they don't "spring" back like it seems they should. They closed all the way in the original car, but in mine they just sort of hang a little open unless you help them.
