Anyone know? Mustang forum says M12x1.75 for theirs, and I think we use the same one.

Now that I've used a tap, I need to "bore out" my shift **** a little deeper so it seats correctly on the shifter.

Yes, it's the same as the Mustang thread, but what you're going to do wont work.

And here's why, illustrated

The Mustang shifter is on the left, SHO shifter on the right. As you can see the diameter of the SHO shifter increases earlier as you are threading on the ****.

If you compare the Mustang **** to the stock SHO ****, the diameter of the hole in the bottom, before the threads start is smaller.

Tapping the **** further will do NOTHING for you. You need to open up the hole in the bottom of the **** in order for it to thread all the way onto the SHO shifter.

kevinspann seem's like he knows what he's talking about! :)

stock shifters are better than any of those cheap shift knobs with the plastic threaded inserts and and two small allen bolts and secure them down, thier all junk IMO, unless its a weighted metal shift **** with metal threads so you can get it on there tight. :)

just my 2cents

I'll see if I can widen out the bottom end. I know what you're talking about now (pictures are worth 1000 words)....Any tools you suggest to do this?

I used a 3/4" paddle bit for wood, but it didn't come out too pretty. If you have a dremel, you could use that and a sanding wheel to open it up...

That's what I used on the 2005 Mustang GT **** I had before I switched to the Redskin Cue Ball. Works well, good luck. :salute:
