... and turned up nada.

Where can one procure OEM Engine paint? I'm assuming it's an enamel. I have some brackets and whatnot and I'd like to get them back to factory specs. Obviously I've seen the powdercoat vs. paint debate but I have not seen an actual restoration color brought up.

What is the SHO engine color / code?

IDK, was it gray or black? I have found Ford Gray and Blue at Wal-MArt. One time it wasn't in their system and they told me $1 a can... Needless to say I cleaned thme out of both colors that time... You never know when you need to paint a block or whatever. If you just need a black I've used Krylon for lotsa stuff, even if just to paint it to look decent after a good cleaning/sanding for battery trays, etc...

When I did my motor I picked up Dupli-color Engine Enamel in "New Ford Gray"...I think that was the official name. Seems exact to the OEM color.

Oh, yea that was the block cover. I haven't a clue about the SHO specific intake/vc parts.

I have searched everywhere, between here, SHOtimes, and the TCCA. Nothing! Pretty wild.

I appreciate the insight though SHOtimer. :)

There was a guy many years ago that had a number of spray cans made up with the exact color. This was way before SHOForum existed. The problem that you may run into is that the intake came in 2 different colors. Early cars had a tendency to come with a gold tint to the intake, whereas later ones were all silver. You can see the gold tint in a lot of the promotional material that was out for the car from Ford.

I might try contacting Don Mallinson, he is one of the only person I know of that is restoring one of his SHO's to completely 100% original, down to the windsheild wipers and oil filter! He may have a source as to where to get the paint from. It will have to be a custom mix, there never was "SHO Intake Silver" that you could buy from the dealer.

Another idea is to bring a CLEAN good condition valve cover to a paint store that can do custom mixes and put them in spray cans. They could then scan and color match the paint and you could pick the cans up the next day.

Good luck. :thumb:
