CE light came on again after hard acceleration on my '94 ATX with 82K MIles. No driveability problems. Code 111 and 172 came up. This points to an oxygen sensor problem, right? Bu I replaced them last week???? Copuld one of the connections be bad??? Is it more sensitive now and detecting a rich problem, possibly stuck open thermostat.

How should I attack this problem. I have cleared the codes when I replaced the O2 sensors and the light still comes on with these codes?

Thanks

It actually points out to a lean condition that your O2 is reading. Are you just getting the 172 or a 176 also? It could be unmetered air getting past the MAF because of a vacuum leak or a dirty MAF. Also have you modified your intake?

You may want to try cleaning the MAF filaments with some electrical contact cleaner. The oil on a K&N filter tends to coat the filaments and cause the MAF to run the car slightly lean. However, is your car has never had the oxygen sensors replaced, it is very plausible they are bad.

Ever since I started running the K&N I get a 172/176 code and a light after hard accl. Try swapping out the K&N with the paper and reset the idle to see if you get a light. My 93 doesnt get the lean condition w/ the paper. It seems that some SHOs dont like the K&N, also try cleaning the MAF like previously mentioned, it didnt make a difference in mine but worth a try.
If you havent done it before be careful not to break the filaments
Hope this helps

There is another 'string' called 'Lean Condition' currently with activity. I posted my results and experiences there. I bought a cheapy FRAM paper filter and took out the K&N. No more C.E. light dealing with LEAN conditions. Take a look at this other 'string'
