Well, the time has come. My soon-to-be stepdaughter is starting driver's ed in a month or two, so we've been taking her out on some back roads in the 98. only thing is, the throttle's starting to stick from time to time, and it's engagement is rather notchy. hard to teach her to have smooth inputs when this Port Fuel Injected car feels like an old 4 barrel carb with detents. Should I **** the throttle cable, or just replace it completelty? I've never noticed this problem when I play with the throttle at the TB, so I'm pretty well convinced it's the cable.

Take off the intake tube and clean out the gunk that accumulates at the throttle body plate. I've had to do this twice in the last 2 years to solve sticky throttle response problems. If that doesn't work then go after the cable.

I agree it could be the throttle plate.

But have also seen where the metal outside part of the cable at the TB end will drag on the actual cable. Squirt some graphite or cable **** in there too.
