Hello everyone. Yesterday at the convience store, the SHO refused to start. When turning the key, everything (lights, accessories, etc) would come on, but no noise (called cranking right) would come from the car. Tiny bit of background--The last couple weeks on start-up, it sometimes over rev, sometimes under rev at start-up. After reading some posts, I'm thinking starter solenoid, but of course I'm going to check all connections (the car is at my buddies 30 miles away). Before I go to the parts store, could anyone confirm this. Thanks

If your battery isn't dead i'd go with the starter solenoid. It's on the drivers side near the air box. Good luck.

Looks like you have a Gen II SHO there. The Gen II's had the starter solenoid relocated from the fender wall and were moved to be attached to the starter itself. Start looking for a new starter.

You can check the starter using the hammer method. Search the forum for 'starter' and 'hammer' and you'll see how to do it.
The story continues: today (after the car sat the night) I tried jumping it after a friends suggestion w/ a similiar problem w/ his car. Luckily, I thought, it worked. Car worked fine today. Started it maybe two times fine. Tonight, though, coming home, at the gas station, the same thing happened (no start). I tried getting a jump, but no luck. Now the question: is this something battery/alternator related or starter/solenoid related? Can anyone nail it down for me? Thanks a bunch
UPDATE---it's the starter/solenoid; the hammer trick worked and she started right up. Now opinions need---should I just install the $40 autozone solenoid or should I buy the complete starter on ebay for $75???

Since the eBay starter is advertised as brand new and the seller has almost 3500 positive feedbacks without a single negative, that might be the best choice. I'd guess at least a few members here have bought one, you might want to ask in the Open Forum to get their opinions.
Another option for you since you're in Boston is Boston Auto Electric in Dorchester ( http://www.bostonautoelectric.com/ 617-282-1444) that sells them for ~$84 + core with a lifetime warranty. In the rare instances that they don't have them in stock they will also rebuild yours within a couple of hours.
Unlike AutoZone and most other auto parts stores, they almost always have rebuilt SHO starters in stock and I've never had one of theirs fail (3 different cars).
