Occasionally, upon cold start, I will hear a mild clattering/knocking (very briefly)
It sounds like the oil is low (it is not). Only at cold start, and only for a second..
Timing chain? Tensioner? This does not manifest itself long enough, or often enough to diagnose it....... Any thoughts on this? ( yes I searched, damm!t)

Might be chain tensioners. Just pull them off and check them real quick. It also might be the beginning signs of rod bearing failure.

Well, I have driven the p!ss out of it... I will do the bearings anyway.(easy)
What do tensioners run? I am all for doing anything to prevent catastrophic failure!!! Maybe COWSAREHOLY can educate me on the proper technique of checking the life expectancy of the tensioners?? Or, tell me the procedure?

Of course, it would not make the noise this morning... But that is normal..LOL.
When you take your car in for service, it won't do what you want to.. So they tell you " it runs fine"....:laugh_ti:

Rod Bearing clatter and valvetrain noise.

Very common as the engine gets loose.

update

I added 1/2 a quart of atf to the oil, and it seems to have helped a lot.
Now I need to change the oil this weekend with some(more) mobil-1.
Maybe some auto-rx will help. I hear good things about it..
Tried "Restore" but all it did was make my expensive oil turn grey..
