Hey guys,
Just got a '93 ATX a couple days ago and I really like it. It replaces a '94 Mustang GT convertible. Anyway, I'd like to know more about the JBL system, like speaker sizes and locations and quantities. I have the amplifier and provisions for the center factory sub, but it just doesnt have one. Is this common or did someone take it out before I got it. What is there involved in hooking a replacement up? I really appreciate the help in advance!

If you end up wanting the stock sub, let me know, i have one, and the amps too.
I beleive the front are 6.5" and the rear are 6x8 but im not for sure. The jbl system used 1 amp for the four mid/high speakers and one amp for the subwoffer. The grills on the door hide the speakers and are a bit deceiving, they are alot bigger than the grill. Sounds good stock, but i always prefer aftermarket, its my thing.

What do your speaker grills have printed on them? If it just says "premium sound" and nothing says "JBL" on it, you have the standard amplified system. It is still 6.5" front and 5x7/6x8" rear, but not quite as stout. My old '93 had the same system. You can swap in the JBL system but it would involve a bit more work than it's worth.

sorry for the delay, phone lines were down. anyway, yes it does say JBL on it and it has the two speakers on the back dash and a missing center speaker (the sub) but it does have the studs and the nut on each stud. It also has the factory amp, the only thing its missing is the sub and foam box or whatever it came in. MI-SHOFEAR... how much, im interested.

Honestly, the stock sub isn't really even a sub... it's a 6" woofer in a custom sealed box. It puts out some bass, yes, but it's nothing to write home about. Plus, they break so quickly... it has a paper surround that likes to rip easily. I would honestly shop around for an aftermarket 8" or 10" sub to put in its place. You can get a stock sub box and drill it out to fit an 8" sub in there. Be aware, however, that the stock amp is a 6-ohm amp, so you'll need to find a 6-ohm sub. Or get a new amp, too. Or get a 4-ohm sub and a *really* big 2-ohm resistor in-line to make it a 6-ohm sub... anyway, yeah. stock sub sucks. It's probably not there because it broke.
