So about a month ago I parked the sho(93 mtx) due to a broken rear passengers side subframe cup. I've have been waiting for a few reasons till this week to get a new subframe and put her back on the road.

I went out to start it for the first time in 3 weeks since I parked it it just cranks and will not fire. The fuel pump is coming on I believe I'm getting fuel but I checked and it has no spark.

The car ran fine before this I had a stall issue last year but it was due to the connectors being cracked on the DIS and falling off. The connectors are definately connected now. I have a 93 atx with a seized motor that I grabbed the dis module and the coil pack and switched them out one by one with the same results. I also grabbed the body control module ( next to the fan in the front) and switched it out with the same result.

I did plenty of searching and checked all my grounds and connectors and everything seems to be ok. I did notice when cranking the check engine light is on, but it flickers when cranking. Previous to it sitting for a month for a broken subframe, it did not have any no start or stalling issues.

I'm stumped....would a crank position sensor fail after sitting for a month?

I forgot to mention I did run the codes. I got 555 and 556 for the fuel pump which I've had for over a year with no fuel pump problems. I did get a 565 code which is canp colenoid failure. What is the canp solenoid?

The canister purge solenoid is located in a vaccum line that runs from behind the throttle body to the underside of the radiator on the driver's side. If you look below the coil pack, you should see it. It's round and has a 2 prong plug going to it.

ooo yes I know that solenoid. I was wondering if it was that one. A couple months ago I had a idling issue so I actually bypassed that sensor and it runs fine now. Well it did run fine until it decided to not have spark. :-(

Crank sensor? Does your tach move while you're cranking it over? Also, have you checked to see if you have fuel at the rails?

One of my sho's had a leaky fuel injector.....if it sat for a while you would have to push gas petal to full throttle to cut off the injectors, then it would start right up. Otherwise it would just crank over, and over.

While doing all these tests I have made sure the battery is fully charged, leaving the charger on slow all night as well.

I also have tried putting the pedal to the floor to cut the injectors off with no dice. I'm not seeing how it has no spark all of a sudden. When cranking, the tach does go to around 2-4 hundred rpm. That should mean the sensor is giving some signal correct? Or should it be higher?

The one thing I have not done is checked the fuel pressure at the rails, due to the fact I do not have a fuel pressure guage. I do smell some gas after cranking it for a bit though, and do not have spark so I just figured the fuel was ok. I may have to pick up a guage just to rule it out though.

battery could just be holding a surface charge. i'd strongly recommend that you jump it just to rule out the battery.

The other thing that it might be is that the coil isn't getting power or that the DIS is no longer grounded.

did you check the fuel pressure at the rails? EDIT, see that you haven't. I put a rag around a screw driver to check for pressure. If it trickles, there isn't any pressure...

How about the fuel trip sensor in the trunk?

Good lead and easy to follow.

If its none of the above, id guess DIS.

I checked the trip sensor in the trunk the first time it didn't start actually. I'm going to clean up the back of the DIS and put some new compound on it to make sure its grounded good and I'll check back with you guys tomorrow. Thanks for all the advise so far!

And as far as the battery goes I have been high amp starting it with the battery charger and it has been cranking real fast and all the lights are on and I can hear the fuel pump.

definitely an ignition problem then.

ooookkkk update! So this whole thing was a stupid simple problem which I knew it would be but still overlooked it. When I swapped out the DIS module I put the two top bolts in and snugged them up and never put the bottom two in.

Today I cleaned the module up nice and put all 4 bolts in and she started right up. Thanks to everyone for all the help and I'm sorry you had to waste your time on my stupidity. :thankyou:

Now to get some subframe bushings and swap the whole subframe out. This should be fun!
