Just wanted to spark the discussion about this. Both on this platform and in general. I've always toyed with the idea in my head, but never can get the balls to try it. FYI, I run lots of meth, so that is usually a requirement in setups like this, generally speaking...

Just curious what folks here have to say about this....

As long as your spraying methanol, it probably should work just fine.
Seemed to work fine in WW2 for emergency power situations.

Short bursts no problem 1/4 run not so good. Hot Cruz in summer no benefits when meth is not spraying.

The thing with meth is this: the more you use, the more you have to use. It is incredibly volatile and therefore very susceptible to preignition. It's a completely different thing from knock/detonation (for those who don't know), and there's nothing that a knock sensor can do to save you from it. So if you try to run lean with hot iat's you could find yourself googling "tow truck near me" really quick.

If you want to supplant intercooling with methanol just understand that absolute leanest you could probably dream of getting away with is 0.68-.70 lambda, and only after considerable tuning and monitoring egt's at each cylinder. Most those super high power pro mods running sans intercooler run as rich as .50 lambda or 3.3:1 AFR to stay safe. Do you have the fueling system to accomplish those flow rates and safely quench your 300 degree IATs?

Yeah, figure you'd have to spray meth when not in vacuum. So lots of meth used.

My gut tells me this is just long term bad for overall internals and really everything engine bay but I have no supporting evidence, LOL. Good conversation tho.

I guess another question for the conversation would be the expectations....same performance as stock, less, more, waaay more?
I would definitely consider some meth redundancy.

I don’t get out much so all that comes to mind is something like Ken Blocks mustang that has no intercooler but is running exclusively on VP M1. Totally different to run on only meth than just be spraying a little.
