I have a 93 sho and just this afternoon the heater blower stopped. question is should I just assume that the motor is shot and replace it or are there any other things to check first-the head unit sounds like it is clicking something under the dash to come on but nothing happens. Any help troubleshooting would be great its snowing and very cold up here!
Thanks Eric

I am assuming you have a climate control head.
If not the checks for power are similar. You can access the connectors by dropping the glove box down.

The blower motor has it's own fuse, a 30 amp one. Is it ok? Also check for voltage between the two heavy wires in the blower motor controller connector and ground. The black wire is ground and the other is the return from the motor. If you have 12 volts from black to ground, you have an open circuit in the harness. If you have 12 volts to ground on the other wire you have a problem with the speed controller.
The other two smaller wires are 12v to the controller and the control signal from the head unit.

Does the fan work if you move the switch to max?
If there is no voltage on either wire, find the motor connector, a two wire connector with a partially rounded side. this should be up near the top left side of the blower part of the housing. Check for 12v on one of the wires. This connector gets power from the fuse panel when the ignition is switched on.

Hope this helps,
Bob

Well it started to work again, could be a flat spot on the blower motor. Something may have froze up as the inside has been a little damp because of the large amounts of snow that we have been getting. I love a car that works out its own problems!

Buechine, where in Ontario are you? I am in in Brampton. BTW the heater on my 95 makes a clicking sound periodically and it's real annoying, maybe it's just the Canadian weather...lol

I'm up in the Barrie area, We've been getting the snow dumped on us for the past few days! I would act up too if I was outside in this weather. wink

My 93 tempo make the click and so does my 93 sho. I saw somewhere there was a service bulletin or recall. The brushes are what's clicking on the comm of the motor I think.

It's just too damn cold for it work right. When I had this same problem about two days ago, all I had to do was wait until it warmed up outside. I think you'll see the problem less if you leave the EATC set on defrost (or any other setting) before shutting off the car.
