No codes?

Yesterday i went to run the OBD codes and i didn't get any response. I couldn't find any info in my manual as to what could be the problem. My symtems are engine surges, hestiation while driving and car cutting off. I had previous located vacuum leak but think i may have another and can't find it. What would cause me not to get any codes?

What method did you use to try to retrieve the codes?

I used a Ford Actron code scanner.

Have you had trouble getting any codes before with that scanner? You may want to try the fail-safe of just jumpering the test terminal and turning on the ignition key to let the CE light blink out the codes. There should at least be a "111" twice, a separator pulse and another "111" twice.

What year is your SHO?

The Gen 1 and 2 cars are EEC, not OBD. The Gen 3 cars are OBD.

I have a 92. I never had problems before. I even took out my LPM and still nothing. But i will try the other way before buying another PCM.

OK, click on THIS LINK for info on pulling the codes from your Computer. It's very easy to do and will save you alot of $ because you end up buying the right parts, the first time, rather than guessing what parts to buy. It could be anything from bad O2 sensor(s) or a CPS, or dirty EGR nostrils.

OBD is the on board diag.(self test), which is the same test that you had the link to. But i can pull any codes with that or the self-test.
