Are you talking about replacing the rear seats with 4 12"s? Why not just put them in the trunk. They will fit (depending on how you want to mount them) and you will be able to keep the back seats.

thats what i thought he was trying to get at.....

yes the trunk will hold the subs... but it will rattle really bad.... not unless you dont have a spoiler... aka a 92 sho... :nut: that is what seems to rattle the most.... then a good layer of dynomat or whatever, and you should be good to go...

Also it's a way better idea to put them in the trunk as they are out of sight and less susceptible to the "smash-n-grab" a.k.a "smash your window and grab your subs"

i had this same idea about a year ago when i was going to build an SPL system. I was going to put 3 15's in place of the back seat....
If your looking for serious SPL, this would be the way to go w/ a ported box.

has anyone on here ever seen or heard about making the back seat of a sho into a 60/40 split seat like whats in the contour svt. If so please post because I really would like to get more bass into the cabin

A split is too complicated. Easiest way to push more air into the cabin for bass is by cutting port holes into your rear package tray (where your rear speakers are mounted). Having any kind of forward sub driver firing bass is a bad idea in the taurus because it will affect your sound as low frequency bass waves are long and can be cancelled out by the cabin's dimensions. That is why you see most sub setups firing rearward into the trunk instead of in backseats or doors. Sure your bass will "boom" more in the cabin but you are really negating the effects of the idea behind getting a sub. If you want your car to "shake" more from bass frequencies, get some bass transducers and mount them under your seats and save space while you're at it (also still able to rock other cars near you).

So you're not going with a split and the whole seat is gonna fold down? That's actually not a bad idea. How are you gonna take care of the metal frame that separates the trunk from the seat? Let me know how that turns out cause I am looking to add space to my trunk.
