My friend tried to be nice and hook up his spare alpine receiver. My unit is at alpine being repaired. After installation I have no gauge lights, cigarette lighter light, and a/c lighting. What could he have possibly mucked up? There was a ground that wasn't electrical taped from his last head unit installation that I covered up. I'm guessing that it's probably a fuse but haven't checked yet. Any suggestions? It's pretty intersting driving at night with no gauge lights.

Officer: How fast were you going?

Me: I dunno, my gauge lights are out and my cruise control doesn't work

Officer: I clocked you back there over 115mph

Me: Must be my throttle position sensor. The forum says to replace that but I don't have the money right now :)

I just checked the fuse for the gauge lights. I assume that the lighting for the a/c and the cigarette lighter ride on the same circuit since those are out as well. My power mirrors and chime still work and the 15 amp fuse for the lights is not blown. help? suggestions?

The gauge lights stopped working after you installed your headunit? I would check the wiring. Whats the deal with the ground wire? I don't think it should be loose. you should connect it to your wiring harness. We could be talking about two different things though.

Things went kaput after my friend put the headunit in. There sounds like what seems to be a relay clicking when I turn on the interior lighting. I think this is normal but it's definately in the area behind the head unit.

mine did exactly the same thing. I got the Ford premium amp bypass kit and wired it, put it in and yay it works. Go to roll down the windows, nothing-sunroof nothing. So i check the fuses and the window fuse is out. I change it and yay they work. Later that day I go to leave work, turn on my lights and no dash lights. I am like ok and move me dimmer switch to where it usually catches. There was only 3 real positions for the switch, on, off and everything on. There was no dimming. Now, there is off and interior lights on, but no clock, cluster, My cig lighter works as I have a couple neons plugged in there and they still work. What could it be?? Bad dimmer switch???? Please help!!!!

Speedy I think it could be a bad dimmer switch. $4 on eBay. It's worth a try. haydenm I seriously recommend pulling the headunit and checking the ground connection/all the wires. Mabye he spliced the wiring harness to the power cord, and disconnected something or forgot to connect something. the gague cluster lights worked before the headunit install right. how many watts is your headunit? are you running an aftermarket amp/speakers/subs?
