Hello, I got my niteshades in yesterday, and decided to do the taillights today. I did a couple coats, and needless to say it IS darker than it looks. I think itl be good on the car still, but would it be safe to throw a coat of clear coat over it? Will clear from a can even give off a good shine? Thanks to all!

Hey Kevin! FYI, I had Nightshades on my '92 and it looked great with 2 coats. You should be fine with that. The only time I had an issue was with a NH trooper who pulled me over. He saw that I didn't have covers and seemed a bit puzzled since he must have assumed I had. He then asked me to drive with my hazards which I did for a mile.

Besides that, nary a problem for about 5 years.

P.S. Paint the center mounted light as well to match(another great reason to go this route).

Thanks Jim! FYI I just threw 2 coats of clear coat on them too, they look glossy, and should wax up beautifully! I dunno if I'l wetsand and buff them yet, but they came out great! Can't wait to get them installed!

Yeah, 5 coats is too much!! I get pulled over ALL the time for those taillights. I think I'm going to put some LED's in there because it just looks too good with the blacked out taillight panel.

I put 2 more coats of CLEAR on it, so they are shiney, but the tint itself is stil the same 2 coats. They look sweet with the gloss clear coat on them!

FYI to anyone looking to do the nightshadez! I clear-coated the lenses after I put (2 I think) coats of the NiteShades on there. It looks sweet, I can't wait to get them installed! they are definitely glossy to match the car! :D

Well, I bought it on ebay for $15 shipped. I[m very pleased, but be sure you dont do too many coats. I did 2 decent coats, and its definitely dark enough, any darker, and it would be TOO Dark.

I got my brake/turn lights from another sho member already tinted, then added the center piece (trunk) and did ~ 4-5 coats on it. A quick wetsand to bring down the high spots and some wax. I have YET to use clearcoat and it is as shiney as ones with clear. As of now, I have not seen any coming off while waxing or washing.

porkchop, I think I didnt apply it right, or something, because I couldnt get a really good shine out of it. Although, i didnt wetsand it at all.. I love how it came out though, a few coats of clear, and it looks great IMHO! You going to The "stripping party" Porkschop?

You got that right....I put at least 9-10 very light coats over mine, and they are still clearly a dark red rather than black...I think they look really cool, and I've never had a problem with the cops. You can see them in my signature.
