Hi all,
Just registered today figuring this is the place to get knowledge and answers..

Picked up a 2013 SHO (non-PP) and have since put 1200 miles on it. I've been driving it like a Grandma for the first 1000 miles (break-in) and have visited the pump 4 times. Here's the results...

1. 280 miles traveled / 10 miles to empty / 16.7 gal to fill / 16.8 MPG
2. 284 miles traveled / 23 miles to empty / 15.9 gal to fill / 17.9 MPG
3. 307 miles traveled / 7 miles to empty / 16.9 gal to fill / 18.2 MPG
4. 306 miles traveled / 19 miles empty / 16.7 gal to fill / 18.3 MPG.

Here are the concerns.
1. In my past 5 cars I'm closer to the EPA highway number than the City number. I'm looking at the "MPG" thread, shaking my head...people are around 22MPG typically. Is something wrong with my car?

2. The SHO is supposed to have a 19 gal tank but I have yet to even put 17 gals in it. Again, with my past 5 cars I'm generally filling it to a near, at, or even more than published fuel capacity. Where are those other 2.2 gals of gas? Again, is something wrong with my car?

Thanks for input.

My humble opinion, no, there's nothing wrong with the car. Your up north, it's cold, and ethenol doesn't help either. As for the missing fuel to empty, the fuel pump is in the tank. To keep the pump from overheating, the extra 2 gallons is there. I wouldn't run the tank below the 50 miles to empty so that you don't pick up crap from the tank. The other thing, reminds me of a saying when I had my 'stang, "drive it like you stole it!" The mileage will come up. I get about 27+ on the open road on a long run. Around town, it might get to 18-19 depending on my foot.

I just turned 1400+ miles on my '13. When I first picked it up, my MPG was around 12! since my 5.0 Mustang GT was returning 22-23 mpg, I was a little put off. However, it has since started showing 21-22 mpg, but I am running 91 Octane Tier One pure gasoline, no ethanol. I have to run premium if I want the pure gas, as both regular and mid grade contain 10% ethanol. Your mpg will improve, especially as the temp warms up. We have been very warm here, no below zero temps, and some 60 degree days, which may also account for my increased mpg.

Unless it's floating, you're going to either collect stuff at the bottom under the sock or suck it up anyway.
