Hi,
Just picked up a 95 sho atx... always wanted one and this one came up had to buy it..older couple owned, it has 80k miles and is really great shape other then some tranny problems.. when i got it,it only had first and second gear...dissconected and reconnected the battery and got the other two gears back... now it shifts hard 1st to 2nd and slips in 3rd and 4th...tranny fluid looks good not burnt nice and red... prior owner said tranny was serviced last year.. about a month ago his wife was driving and tranny started slipping in 3rd and 4th out of nowhere they had towed home and parked it ....
dropped the pan today all looks good... found nothing... talked to a guy said possible lock up solenoid in valve body..got one from napa part number 1-5424...got side pan off.. valve body looks good and clean... just wondering if while im in there should i be looking or replacing something else?? what else could cause this...am i wasting my time?? it hard for me to believe the trannys toast with as clean as everyting looks...toasted the tranny in my wifes explorer and fuild was black as **** and stunk... i bought this car planning on putting a tranny in it but if i could fix this one ,all the better .. also bought a new vss for it.. will be installing that also.... havent pulled any codes off of it will do that tomorrow.. also been looking for a repair manual cant find any for the sho local whats a good one to look for? Any advise would be great... cant wait to get her back on the road , sorry for the long post..

Welcome to SHOforum!

Report what codes you find, that will prevent rampant speculation and possibly actually help you.

you'd need the subframe, mounts, wiring harness and computer, too. not to mention pedal assembly, shifter and associated hardware. however, it's been done more than once, so there's plenty of resources available.

I believe you need to use the gen 1 subframe, tranny, exhaust mid pipe, shift linkage, and ecu. Then you need to pull the engine from your gen 2 and install it on the gen 1 subframe, replacing the blown one. Then you remove all the A/C stuff from the gen 2 engine bay, bolt up the gen 1 subframe, plug in the gen 1 ecu and you're good to go.

That's not quite what it takes, a few details are overlooked....

The 3.2 needs some modification to use the 3.0 engine mounts (which are required to do the mtx), so you need to search for the threads that will describe how you do that.

You will need mtx a/c lines, and since the 95 has R134a and the 90 has R12, you will need a new expansion valve, you should be able to use the 95 a/c compressor according to what I've read.

The pcm (ecu) will not just plug in. You will either need to use the atx pcm and modify the wiring slightly like I did in the above-referenced thread, or you will need to do some significant re-wiring to use the 90 mtx pcm on the 95 car. If you choose the latter, you will need the EVTM (wiring harness manuals) for both the 90 and the 95 to get it wired correctly. If you choose the former, the above-referenced thread will provide all the details you need to get it wired up.

does the gen 1 have a rod shifter or cable? you can use the cable shifter if you want. but a rod shifter is a much better way to go. make sure to do your homework before you start the project. the accessories are a big deal, most use the 3.0 accessories and the heads and intake also from the 3.0 also. the head needs to be notched if you plan on using the 3.2 heads. my car has pretty much just the short block from the auto (3.2) and the rest is just the 3.0 stuff.

but for the most part all the 1st gen stuff will fit on the 2nd gen. if that's just the answer your looking for

or hit up one of the guys parting out a mtx sho and get the wiring harness and ac stuff from them and just swap it out. no rewiring, just swap a 95 mtx harness and ac
