Hey guys, new to the SHO world and planning on purchasing my first in the next few weeks. What year ATX is best?? Anything to look out for?? I've had nothing but 5 liter (stock to 10sec.) mustangs so wondering how hard they are to maintain?? Any insight is appreciated and looking for future help in getting it running strong:evilgrin:

94' with a 95 transmission.... Just stay away for the 93' without a 94/95 ecu.... just to firm up the shifts! Other than that dealers choice

The 93 atx was not as strong as the 94/95 trans. There are no known differences between the 94 and 95 atx.

:salute:

Thanks for the replies guys. I have seen quite a few '93 around here that did indeed need tranny re-builds so I will stay away from them. Just for giggles is there any re-build kit that is more "hi-po" should I find a '94-'95 with a burnt trans?? I saw one ('94) that looks really clean but trans (O/D) is out. Thanks and am so looking forward to having my 1st SHO and hearing the secondaries open!!!!!!!!:dribble:

My trans guy says that the only way to get a rebuild kit for these transmissions any more is to buy the complete kit. As long as you get one from a reputable company, you should be fine.

As far as "(O/D) is out" - have a look at shotimes.com for that issue - sometimes the fix for that is a simple fix from the outside of the trans.
