My son brought home a 1979 SHO 3.0L engine (I think) and dis-assembled most of it (left the crank in the block). Due to Coivd19 I am bored out of my mind, so I decided to look into re-building the engine, without a plan as to what to do with it after and if I get it running. I think it may make a good HPDE car and take the wear off my daily driver. I have built a couple of engines 50 years ago, so with that memory, I bought the factory repair manual off the internet and am in the process of inventorying the parts I have. With the exception of the EFI and all of the new electronics, is seems pretty straight forward. Clearly I haven't a clue. I had some brief emails with SHOSource (since I never used a forum I am not sure I can mention names), he was very helpful and said he could put me in contact with some Northern California people that might be able to offer guidance. I think my biggest concern at this moment is the inability to find parts, for example engine rebuild kits. Also, I think I should have the heads rebuilt instead of trying to do it myself. I would encourage anyone who wants to comment both positive and negative.
