New TCE Rotors Custom for Baer Sport

My new custom made 12.5 two piece Wilwood curved vane rotors for my Baer Racing Sport set up came in today. These wiegh a lot less than the one piece 13" or 12.5" rotors. These rotors are directional for cooling.

I figure I have the 'best of both worlds" with this setup. Less unsprung wieght and rotating mass over stock (improving both handling and acceleration) and at the same time, greater leverage giving more braking power and greater fade resistance from the larger rotor.

Cause i'm in need of some new rotors, soon and was looking at going with a 2 piece rotors next time around.

The Baer sport kit is 12.5". This kit is based on a deep-offset Corvette rotor and the 13" Cobra kits are based on shallower-offset Mustang rotors. Since the Cobra kits are based on Mustang rotors and Todd also sells a lot of kits for the Mustang crowd I'm guessing he may have something that could work. You'd need to contact him to find out. If you have the rotor dimensions already worked out (hat depth, etc.), or if you know the compatibility source for the original rotor (e.g., 95 Mustang Cobra, whatever) it'll likely save a lot of time.

You'd be correct.

And I do have the Mustang specs as well. Same price 12.5 or 13.

Improvements won't be 'huge', i.e. like a whole brake kit or anything. Directional vane design for better air flow (if others are not) two piece for weight savings, and lesser cost for replacement rotors.

I really don't know anything about the Baer kits and their applications. This product here is strictly a replacment for their one piece rotor. It's applications you'll have to ask someone who has one.

I wieghed my old stock rotors and compared them with the new 12.5". Stock rotors weighted 16lbs and the new ones 17lbs. One more pound per quarter rotating mass is not bad for far greater braking power and a loss of unsprung weight of ~5lbs per corner with the lighter calipers. I was also able to make up the 1 pound gain by loosing 2 lbs per corner over stock with my lightweight wheels and tires.

To compare one step more, I believe you'd find this new rotor to be about 3lbs lighter than the one piece of the same size.

They will become a more stocked part in the next week or so too.

I received my 2 piece rotors from Todd on Friday. Unfortunately I didn't have the time to get them mounted for the track day at Lime Rock on Saturday, but I'll be putting them on this weekend.

Bob, do you have the 12.5" kit mounted yet? I'm curious to know what the weight difference is between the modified knuckle and the factory one. I have a feeling that with the TCE rotors, the 12.5" weighs less then the factory 90-93 brakes.

I haven't mounted them yet, but I will try to weigh the caliper, and hubs tonight. I am sure the modified hubs would be lighter since they have had material removed from them.

I know there will be since the aluminum pbr caliper is much lighter than the cast iron stock caliper. Let recount. rotors +1lb over stock and the hubs and calipers weigh more than 1 pound less.

I wieghed everything tonight.
Stock:
Caliper 9lbs
Hub 19lbs
Rotor 16lbs

total 44lbs

New:
Caliper 5lbs
Hub 16lbs
Rotor 17lbs

Total 38lbs

6 lbs off each front wheel over the stock system. I used a bathroom scale so these wieghts are estimates. I compared the hubs. Alot of material has been removed to fit the Baer Calipers. I need to take some more pics.
