new speedo?

my speedo has been jumping around for the last 6 months i finally got around to greasing the cable but that did not help. Is it the speedo that is shot or something else? If it is the speedo where can i get one??

The inner wire spring in the speedo cable is made up of several tight wound coil springs. Due to it rubbing against the outer cable sheath for umteen zillion revolutions, sometimes one of the coils will break and the broken end catches on the inside of the outer sheath. There is no fix besides replacing the inner spring or the entire cable assembly.

BTW I actually have the little die stamp that puts the square end on the round inner spring. Inherited it from my wife's grandfather. Neat tool.
