Hi everyone... I'm new here, and a new SHO owner (2012 PP). I've been lurking about the forums, reading everything I could, and felt that Livernois was the way to go, so I ordered their MyCal Touch today, along with the plugs.

Two questions... I've never changed plugs before (never had a decent car before either, so not caring before now, I'm not so savvy on DIY for cars.) and was thinking I'd do it myself - if someone could just point the way to HOW. :)

The other question is, are there any mechanical upgrades, like the CIA or exhaust that really should be considered before I throw the 4+ tune on the car? Or is it good enough as-is?

I'm open to other upgrades, but kinda want to pace myself - so... figured I'd start with tuning & plugs.

Thanks!

One more thing... kit got here fine... plugs installed, got my tune files from Anthony at Livernois really quickly too. It just occurred to me that there could be the possibility of bricking the computer by flashing it? Is that a possibility? I have a week-long trip to go on this Saturday, and I'd love to have the tunes installed for the trip, but the higher priority is actually having the car for the trip. Should I be even remotely concerned? Wait until after my trip?

Welcome to the forum, and congrats on your '12 SHO! Great that you have jumped into modding right away :) Plugs gapped at 0.030, right?

Usually, tunes load just fine, unless an incorrect tune is sent (which does happen from time to time). I'd wait till after your trip to load the tune, unless you have time between now and your trip to work with LMS on any potential issues that may crop up.

As far as I know... Livernois delivers their plugs pre-gapped to 0.030. I'm not experienced enough (yet) to do the plug install myself, so I had the dealership do it with express instructions NOT to gap them, explaining that they were precision gapped and didn't need them. Since I didn't install them myself - I have no guarantee that the tech didn't re-gap them - can only trust that they followed my instructions.

...and thanks for the advice... I will wait. :D

It is TOTALLY easy to do the plugs, first time around an hour, 2nd time around 15 minutes.
If you need any downpipes lmk, we have the best prices right now. :)

Welcome to the site and congrats on the car.

Few things....

1. When plugs are shipped, there is a good possibility that the gap can be changed because of the bouncing, banging, etc of the plugs. You really should check the gap to be safe. I would never trust the dealership-just my opinion. Buying a good set of feeler gauges and doing it yourself is a good lesson. Give it a try....pretty easy. YouTube it.

2. Are you running a 3bar MAP with that new tune? Did you ask them to tune for it? Did they ask you?

Hey... um... I didn't check the gapping as shipped... the box was pretty secure from Livernois, so it didn't even occur to me. The dealer's already installed them, and I haven't seen any issues so far... in fact, on my trip up here (9 hours ugh) I was averaging 27mpg according to the car... so I'm guessing they are correct? However, you make a GREAT point, the price of a small tool is well worth avoiding probably more costly problems. With any luck, I'm g2g for now. Will get one... for next time. (Or should I pull them myself and re-check them now?

I'm not running the 3bar MAP... Livernois asked for ALL mods done to the car - I told them that it was stock 2012 SHO PP, that's it. Got 4 files from them. Haven't installed any one of them just yet.
