Wow, looks like its done a fair bit of traveling over the years!
I bought it in 2002, I think? It was owned for a long time by a guy in Silicon Valley. It had a Powerdyne Supercharger, the big brake kit, suspension stuff, drivetrain mods (clutch, quaife, etc) and a bunch of other things. It only had 80k miles on it and it was an absolute delight to drive.
The bad news: Blowby. The engine was close to giving up the ghost. It dyno'd a max of 370 to the front wheels, most I saw it do the one time I had it on the dyno was closer to 330. At the time I figured different conditions etc, but in hindsight that was just another symptom of coming problems. The previous owner was running very heavy weight oil, and had installed a catch can to catch any blowby, which he said was normal.
After owning it for a couple of months, my other car (also a Sho) started to need more and more tending to and I was having to take too much time away from work to deal with car stuff, so I cleaned house and got rid of both. I sold the Green one to a guy in LA. He loved it, and took it down to the shoshop in huntington.......surprise! The front desk guy there goes "oh, yeah, I know this car, the rings are worn, its been an issue for some time."I guess the owner before me clued into the problem and decided to get out of the car before things took a turn for the worse.
The new owner called me and asked me to take the car back. I regretfully told him no. He was upset, but caveat emptor, I suppose. I still felt bad about it, and a few months later I pinged him via email to find out what he was doing with the car. I found out he had parked it and bought a little beater to get around in for the moment while he saved to have it fixed. That killed me. So i suggested that he bring the car back to me and I would sell the blower off the car, which would cover the cost of a new motor. He jumped at the idea. Tyler and Efren (I dont remember their handles on here) swapped in the 3.2, painted the manifold and back the car went. The -then owner was thrilled with the result and that was the last I heard of the car.
Saga not quite over though......the supercharger went to a guy back east and the damn blower let go almost immediately! I couldnt believe it. Turned out that running 9lbs of boost put the blower at basically max impeller speed or maybe even slightly over.
Anyway, there you have it.
