i'm guessing i'm posting this in the right section, i'm just wondering what everyone's opinion is... i want to change the color of my car ( http://spin.spud77.com:8257/sho/sho.jpg <-- what it currently looks like) although in that pic u can't really see all the paint flaking off and all that, so basically my car needs a paint job, i'd like to get some type of metallic or shiny black paint but some people are saying i should keep the same color, just wondering what everyone on here thought, it's a 91 :)

It really depends what u want. IMO I would sell yours and buy one with nice paint. A super nice mocha 91+ with 60k on it just sold for like 4,500? or so in the classifieds section of the forum.

I repainted my 91+ last fall and it cost me $3,300 with no major body work, rust, etc.. And I kept it the same color so they didn't repaint door jams, etc.

With paint jobs you get what u pay for. I am a perfectionist and like my stuff as perfect as possible. Thus I spent way too much money on a paint job headbang But it looks nice wink

If you are a perfectionist (as many of us SHO owners are), to change the color is going to be expensive and time consuming. if you want it done and done right, your looking at ripping out most of the components in your engine bay and interior.
So its really not if you want it or not, its whether you can afford to change it

3,300 sounds very resonable for a good job. I do alot of custom work and restoration, no bids or quotes just $35 hr + materials. I only do the Base coat clear coats and always color sand the clear and polish it, makes it oh soo nize. It is very labor intensive though.

I would get the original color but I would choose the best quality of that paint, probably a 2 part catalytic version, and an extra clear coat.
Ditzler has several quality versions of original paint, get the top one!

Or, get Imron, either a metallic close to the original or get black. Imron is the best paint there is, is expensive, but easy to paint as I have done it. It just flows out to a great gloss!
