First off great forum! I totalled my Audi A4 and picked up my '99 SHO about 2 months ago. Since driving i have noticed the following problems...

When driving the car in a little more aggressive manner it will start up shifting and down shifting rough. Real rough. On a few instances the O/D Off light will blink and stay blinking until the car is shut off. There is no reference to the over drive light in the manual. Sign of transmission failure?

I have read posts of the limiter being set to 144 MPH in this car. Mine shuts off at about 108 MPH. It has ample power between 60 - 90 MPH on the highway. What would cause the car not to exceed this speed if the limiter is set to 144?

Car currently has 130,000 miles on it, but i have to tell you i thought the Audi was fun to drive until i got into the driver seat of the SHO. It is the ultimate sleeper... well until my issues get in the way!

Thanks for any suggestions...
Todd

Hey Todd,

Glad you're enjoying your SHO. I wonder if you're not having some trans issues, which would explain the shifting obviously, but also what I would think is slipping at high speed- but could also be a torque convertor or a solenoid... Have you had codes read at all?

When you're driving is the car shifting into overdrive? Try shifting from D to OD and see if it does...

Welcome to the sho world, now please have your cams welded asap.
On the other hand maybe somebody with tranny experience will be able to give you more info on your transmission issues.
shos are fun to drive and really good cars if you keep up with maintenance, mine has 190k and still performing good with original engine and tranny.
Good luck fixing your issues.

If the OD light is blinking there are trans issues. Has the fluid and filter been changed lately?
