Hello all,
I recently picked up a 1989 SHO that has been sitting since May 2006. The story is it wouldn't start, so the owner took it to a mechanic and began to diagnose it. Supposedly it's a bad fuel pump. Anyway, the mechanic quit and then the shop closed up, so they towed the car back home and it sat and sat. I'll test the fuel system then begin on diagnosing any other issues.
The paint should polish up alright, I've done a few test sections. It's a repaint, metallic black. The front seats have been redone, I believe in vinyl. The rear seat needs to be redone. The car came with a stack of receipts. It has a documented 145k on it. The goal is to get it back on the road, soon. I did have to eradicate a bunny from his home under the hood. There is some damage to the wiring, but not too bad, at least from the top side. Some new pigtails and battery cables will fix it. I still need to get under to inspect the wiring and hoses. Suspension appears to be good, no rust being a SoCal car it's entire life. All but one of the tires held air, and surprisingly are still holding air after a few weeks. The spare is good too.
I'm no stranger to Fords and building them up. I've got a turbo 5.0L foxbody Mustang, a Merkur XR4Ti, and a 5.0L 2nd gen Explorer.
These pictures are from the day I picked it up, just as I found it aside from airing up the tires.
